Our project manager in Kenya, Alex Katana is an absolute star! Despite the constraints of not having brilliant access to the Internet or electricity, he keeps us well apprised of what’s going on by sending lots of images and short videos through Whatsapp – thank goodness for these simple solutions.
I thought you might like a snapshot peek at the construction of the most recent classroom we built at Kundeni Primary School in Boré, on Coast Province.
The building work is undertaken by the amazing members of the Boré Green Umbrella Cooperative. They’re local folks who are embracing every positive difference being made to their community, as the devastating effects of Kenya’s drought continue to wreak havoc in their region and across the country. Kenya is still in a state of National Disaster as declared by President Uhuru Kenyatta on 10th February 2017.
The design for this classroom had an additional requirement – a library – now also beautifully signwritten to commemorate a very special supporter of the project.
The shelves are currently empty but we are hopeful that with a little assistance from Book Aid International, we should be able to remedy things – more on that soon.
In the meantime, huge thanks are being sent to all our donors – you’re superstars too!
