Volunteer Blood Needed

Not literally you understand but as we are still in the very early days of our charity, it would really give us a good leg up if we had a bit of volunteer energy in our pot.

I’ve posted a request for a Volunteer Administrator & Fundraising Assistant on Do It Org, the UK’s national volunteering database and I’m hopeful we’ll find someone in the sunny southwest who is keen to learn the ropes.

A villager in the Word ForestOur technical guru Simon has designed a brilliant clocking in system for our staff and volunteers. He created a QR code which he turned into a proper ID badge. (Logging this data electronically is an excellent way of keeping a handle on the volunteer hours that are given, which are sometimes taken into account when you apply for funding.)

Simon installed an app on my phone which takes a picture of my pass and logs me in and out of the office. However, fearing I’d probably lose the card in my first week, I dug out an old lanyard that previously held a Meet and Greet Backstage Pass for Aled Jones (I’m all rock, roll and recycle)…

I stuck my new pass on the top of dear old Aled and I’ve been trialling it for a while. I must admit, I’ve been a bit rubbish at clocking out to go home; at the end of last week, apparently I did a straight 62 hours… thank goodness it has an easy edit facility.

I will get used to it, either that, or I’ll set up a camp bed under my desk!

If you’d like to come and volunteer at our Lyme Regis office, or undertake a project remotely, we’d love to hear from you. All skill bases will be gratefully welcomed.

Drop us a line and help us enable Boré residents like this lovely lady to reforest their community with urgently needed trees that will help lift them out of drought.

Thank you.
