How to Reduce Your Food Miles & Help the Planet

If you’re a tree planter, we love and applaud you for helping to remove CO2 and other pollutants from the atmosphere.

There are lots of other ways you can prevent putting quite so much CO2 in the atmosphere in the first place.

Taking a look at what you eat is a great place to start.

A very interesting article and interactive tool on BBC news caught our eye this morning and while you’re having a cuppa and a quiet 5 minutes, why not click this link and dive in to have a look at it.

Nassos Stylianou, Clara Guibourg and Helen Briggs have collated a list of 34 frequently consumed food items (in the UK) and they’ve worked out what the impact on the climate is, for eating them.

It’s a real eye opener, particularly if you’ve never considered the fact that your dinner plate is responsible for CO2 build up and water consumption too – if you’re wondering what on earth we’re talking about, do read the piece and find out.

Our lifestyle choices have the ability to make a positive impact on the big squishy blue ball we live on.

Might it be time to do a little bit more to help keep yourself and planet earth in better shape?
