He did some incredible work over there, teaching the Boré community about lifesaving water purification skills.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Steve has agreed to host a Bushcraft Adventure Weekend as a fundraiser for our charity.
It’s going to be held at Foxlease, a stunning rural retreat nestled in 65 acres of woodland in the breathtaking New Forest in Hampshire.
It is a self-catering weekend but soft drinks will be provided. You will also need to bring your own tent, but don’t worry if you haven’t got one, you’ll be able to hire one from the centre.
As well as learning fabulous new skills, you’ll also be able to hang out with some of our Team, who will be delighted to tell you what’s happening on the front line of climate change in Kenya. You’ll also be one of the first to see the documentary about Word Forest’s projects, filmed by Tim Tyson Short, who accompanied them to Africa.
Let your stresses melt away into the forest as you chill out around the campfire, or spend peaceful time connecting with nature, and of course you’ll have two wonderful nights to relax under canvas, beneath the stars.
There’s so much to enjoy on this amazing, action-packed weekend with Steve but you can do as much or as little as you wish.
Tickets are limited to 20 people, they’re a bargain at £100 each and this is guaranteed to be a weekend you’ll never forget – secure your place and book your tickets now!
Your attendance on our bushcraft adventure weekend will result in 30 trees being planted in our forests in Boré, Kenya. It’ll also buy a few building materials for a new classroom in an impoverished community there, too.
We look forward to seeing you!

Your bushcraft tutor, Steve Pooley is professionally trained and whilst we will make every effort to reduce any risks to participants, accidents happen and we must point out that participation in the weekend is being undertaken entirely at your own risk. You are encouraged to take out your own travel insurance for a bushcraft weekend, if you are concerned. This event will begin with a full orientation and safety briefing and if you have any questions regarding safety over any aspect of the weekend, please get in touch. The Word Forest Organisation does have public liability insurance which would only cover accidents that happened as a direct result of our negligence.
