Education is vital, and a safe place to learn, in the shade or shelter from the rains makes all the difference. It takes around 1,000 building blocks to complete the construction of a solid stone classroom and our classrooms are equipped with desks and all the facilities required to teach the pupils. For every one we build, we plant 4,000 trees around the school compound too. Having a conducive place to learn, sheltered from the harsh elements, makes a world of difference to young & adult learners alike. When students have an opportunity to study in a cool, quiet space, it’s easier for them to concentrate on the lesson. Knowledge about the forest & the environment will help their trees reach maturity & go on to battle climate chaos.
The Word Forest Organisation plant trees, build schools, facilitate education & support women’s empowerment in rural Kenya. Word Forest believes the best way to ensure the health, well-being and protection of the new fast-growing forests is by applying a holistic approach, investing in the people who are tending the trees.
