Mastodon is a decentralised social network built around community, meaningful conversation and chronological feeds rather than algorithms. There are no adverts and no data-driven news feeds deciding what people see. Instead, it is shaped by people, shared values and genuine dialogue.
That matters to us.
As an international charity supporting communities in Kenya to grow trees and build resilience, we believe in long-term thinking, collaboration and transparency. Mastodon offers a space where environmental organisations, scientists, campaigners and thoughtful individuals gather to share ideas and practical action.
We have joined Mastodon because:
- It aligns with our values of community and cooperation
- It supports slower, more reflective conversations
- It can connect us directly with environmental networks
- It avoids the noise and polarisation common on large commercial platforms
- It allows us to share our work without relying on advertising models
We will use Mastodon to share occasional updates from our tree planting and education work in Kenya, insights from our partners, and reflections on climate resilience and ecosystem restoration.
