Tracey at the watering hole

Sights and Sounds of the Kenyan Bush

Over the past 12 months, there have been many times when I’ve packed a suitcase in my head and transported myself 5,000 miles away to our tree planting projects in Kenya.

Kenya by day is amazing, by night, it’s a whole new world full of nocturnal creatures and symphonies of sound. The wee small hours can still be hot and humid but the night choirs frequently soothe you into a deep sleep.

I’ve found a way to take you to Tsavo East National Park. It’s a biodiversity wonderland and you can experience all manner of wildlife in it’s natural habitat, including the famous Big Five: lion, black rhino, cape buffalo, elephant and leopard. Tsavo East is also home to an enormous array of bird life, including the black kite, crowned crane, lovebirds and the sacred ibis.

Click here to visit a 24-hour watering hole webcam. Just have it on in the background while you go about your daily business – the sounds alone are incredible. Even if there’s nothing to see at the time you visit… there will be soon, in fact, as I type, there’s a herd of about 25 elephants, babies too! Tune into the wilderness, watch the creatures drinking and refreshing themselves and let the sounds of nature get into your very bloodstream and relax you.
