CANCELLED: Ethical Shell & Bead Craft Sale + Evening Bags & Jewellery too

That is quite possibly the longest title on our entire website but I just couldn’t trim it down! I wanted to add: ‘Ethical Bonanza Double Whammy Bonus for Women’ but I had to draw the line somewhere! We’ve recently been gifted two huge boxes of items to raise money for Word Forest which needed a trolley to get them into the office.

Enormous love and thanks goes to the wonderful Natalie Mc of Red Panda in Lyme Regis, for donating a veritable treasure trove of goodies to sell. We’re hoping to transform it all into funds so we can get lots of urgently needed trees in the ground.

As well as ready-to-wear, beautifully crafted jewellery and evening bags which were skillfully made by Natalie, we also have lots of shells, wooden and acrylic beads, perfect if you’re a crafty soul who likes making handicraft items.

Our CEO Tracey West comments: “What’s absolutely wonderful is they came from a sustainable project for women in Cebu in the Philippines, Natalie’s home. The items she bought from them benefited the women in her community and now, the onward sale of these items is going to benefit another women’s empowerment group, the Mothers of the Forest – it simply cannot get better than that.”

As well as beautiful one off jewellery designs, there are many ‘job lots’ of necklaces too, so if you run a craft stall or an Etsy shop, I think you’re going to love what we’re about to put up for sale.

Many of the shells and beads have been collected from around Cebu, then carved, shaped and threaded onto strings, ready for people to craft into decorative items for the body and the home. Natalie knows the provenance of the materials and has certificates to show their authenticity, which we’ll be very happy to display at our sale.

So, the plan is to open the doors to Unit 1a at St Michael’s Business Centre (right next door to our office in Unit 1) on Church Street, Lyme Regis on Friday 13th March, between 5-9pm and for our amazing team of volunteers to sell as many bits of bijou as possible!

We’ll have some wonderful music playing, courtesy of the newly launched Lyme Bay Radio. We’ll have some delicious plant-based sweet and savoury nibbles and refreshments to buy, to make sure you don’t have a rumbly tummy while you’re perusing the goodies and having a social evening out: feel free to bring a bottle of wine along to enjoy with friends, if you wish.

Pop the date in your diary and come along early if you can! It’ll be first come, first served and all the money raised is going to do such good in the world – what a great way to start the weekend.
