On Wednesday 2nd October at The Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis we hosted the first screening of #TreesAreTheKey by Tim Short, narrated by Kate Winslet. We’d sold almost 100 tickets leading up to the event. Sophia, the theatre manager, reliably reassured us there would likely be, ‘a good few walk in’s on the night’ – indeed there were.

Would you please run a fundraiser for our reforestation charity, The Word Forest Organisaion? Right now, we are on a deadly serious mission to get as many new saplings in the ground, as is humanly possible. The planet needs them.
During February 2019, a small Word Forest team went to Kenya to perform our annual monitoring and evaluation tasks and other duties, including doing preliminary research on the next schools
We’re delighted to introduce you to another of our Corporate Partners, an uber-eco team of Dorset mums who created The Green Weigh. The Green Weigh is Dorset’s first mobile zero waste shop and it’s based in Bridport. This ethical org was formed by a team of 4 phenomenal women: Alex Green, Kate Robertson, Libby Rogers and Lizzy Rhodes. Recently, Eva Jefa, the facilitator of our women’s empowerment group, Mothers of the Forest and Esther Kombe, Chair of the Boré Green Umbrella (the cooperative that plants the trees and builds the classrooms we commission), went on a certificated Permaculture Design Course in Meru; they both graduated with flying colours.
We’re chuffed to work with some amazing Corporate Partners and the folks at Forest Hog, are exactly that. Like us, they’re a young company and they’re powered by a small team of passionate environmentalists, led by the eco-powerhouse that is Diana Robinson.
If you pause a moment to reflect on the smiles of Eva (right) our Mothers of the Forest facilitator and Esther, one of the Mothers, you’ll see our women’s empowerment group has gone from strength to strength. Since February this year, they’ve been arriving at their twice monthly meetings 2 hours early for lessons. They undertake an hour of Kiswahili and English, and an hour of maths, both provided by local educator, Michael Jefwa.
