Run, Forest, Run! Turn Your Passion for Running into Trees

We need runners the world over to help us mitigate our existential crisis and climate chaos!

Run, Forest, Run!

Over the past 15 months, we’ve steered the charity through the most challenging period in fundraising history.

Today, we’re putting out an urgent call to runners everywhere like the amazing Wendy Robertshaw: could you also run a fundraiser for us?

Every penny counts

Chair of Trustees and charity co-founder, Simon West explains: “In a project we’re calling Run, Forest, Run! we’re seeking planet-loving runners who are motivated to do a sponsored run for us.

We can turn funds raised into tropical trees that grow up to 10 times faster than anywhere else on the planet. Our trees do incredible work. They support our women’s empowerment projects, the commodities from the trees alleviate hunger and poverty and they clean the air we breathe all over the world.

We’re not letting the pandemic hold us back

CEO and co-founder, Tracey West comments: “The pandemic utterly side-swiped us. Back in March 2020 we had to cancel all of our fundraising events. Additionally, most weekends we ran stalls at many of the South West’s vegan markets, they were cancelled too and we were stopped in our tracks.

By gritted determination, lots of long days and positive human energy from our incredible volunteers, we’ve managed to stay afloat and we’re doing all we can to re-emerge stronger than ever. The terrifying global forest fires that continue burning and the extreme weather events taking place around the world, show the urgency for action. Take a look at this photo-report from a few days ago for the shocking facts: The World is Burning – news like this continues to fuel our fire to keep going!

Be a rising star, save the planet

The extent to which coronavirus has affected the charitable sector remains unknown, however according to a recent report from Browne Jacobson LLP, across the sector it is predicted that there will be a shortfall in income of £12.4 billion during 2020 alone.

Tracey adds: “It has been mooted that around 40% of UK charities will have to close as a result of the pandemic – that’s unthinkable, frankly. Our planet is being gripped by an existential crisis right now and Word Forest simply cannot be one of those casualties. We have to find a way to recover, rebuild and rise from the ashes of COVID-19.
