Billy, Bone And The Treekeeper – A Timely Tale For Children

We’re thrilled to be able to introduce you to Billy and Bone!

This newly published book for children comes from the talented pen of author Keith Trayling. It’s written in poetry form and has a gentle yet important environmental message. When Billy, a young boy, and his dog Bone look inside an intriguing hole in an old oak tree, they find adventure, a new friend and a special mission.

Keith has always written poetry, for himself and for family occasions, but since his diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, he has become much more prolific. Inspired by his friend, Ped Bell, he finished writing the story in 2020 and it has been beautifully illustrated by Maddy Cook.

Keith has other adventures planned for Billy and Bone, but for now you can find out more about the characters at https://www.billyandbone.com/about

I love that, when Billy grows up, he wants to be ‘Sir David Attenborough or an architect’.

The themes in this story really chime with what we do at The Word Forest Organisation and we are touched and most grateful that Keith and his wife Bridget have generously offered us a donation for every copy sold, which will get even more trees in the ground in Kenya. When you read the story, you’ll see just how apt this is!

They have also kindly donated five copies of the book to the charity. Two will be raffled as a fundraiser and three are winging their way to Kenya so that the children there can enjoy them.

A bargain at £7.99, you can buy your signed copy here: https://www.billyandbone.com/home

Thank you so much, Bridget and Keith – every tree makes a difference. Now, where did I put that acorn…
